In addition to being a photographer, I work closely with rescue dogs and have hands-on experience with anxious and reactive pups, including my own. I understand that not every dog is comfortable in new environments, around strangers, or around other dogs; and that’s completely okay.

Sessions are thoughtfully planned with your dog’s comfort in mind. We can choose private locations, low-traffic parks, quiet trails, or even your home to reduce stress and overstimulation. I also offer controlled setups with backdrops and lighting in calm, familiar spaces when appropriate.

We move at your dog’s pace, create space when needed, and prioritize safety above everything. I use patience, body language awareness, and positive reinforcement techniques to help your dog feel secure.

Some of the most meaningful images come from giving sensitive dogs the time and understanding they deserve.

I take time at the beginning of every session to let your dog adjust to me, the environment, and the camera. There’s no rushing, we move at your pet’s pace.

I pay close attention to body language and stress signals, and I adjust accordingly. Whether that means taking breaks, creating more space, switching locations, or keeping things playful and light, the goal is always the same; helping your dog feel safe.

I always bring high-value treats and engaging toys to capture attention and create positive associations (and of course, I check with you first regarding allergies or dietary needs).

With my experience working alongside rescue dogs, and with my own reactive pups,I understand that trust is earned. Some dogs warm up quickly, others need more time, and both are completely okay.

When your dog feels secure, the images naturally reflect that.

Your dog’s safety is always my top priority.

I carefully choose session locations with safety in mind; whether that’s a quiet trail, a low-traffic park, private property, or a controlled indoor setup. I’m always aware of surroundings, other dogs, and environmental distractions.

Leashes are welcome and often encouraged for safety; they can easily be removed in editing if needed. For reactive or anxious dogs, we create extra space, avoid crowded areas, and move at your dog’s comfort level.

I also take cleanliness seriously. Indoor props and surfaces are sanitized between sessions. Paper backdrops are disposed of as needed, and fabric backdrops are washed regularly to ensure a clean environment for every dog.

I’m experienced working with rescue dogs and understand canine body language, stress signals, and how to adjust quickly if needed. Sessions are never rushed, and your dog’s well-being will always come before getting “the shot.”
